App features
The gig view
Section titled “The gig view”- Top bar: connection state, Edit and Control, full screen, and the menu (Settings, Refresh, Tuner, Tempo, Log, Disconnect, and the pedal’s firmware version).
- Preset row: the bank and slot label and the preset name, sized to always fit on one line. A small tag shows live right after a footswitch press until the pedal confirms it, or sending while the app changes the preset.
- Capture and cab line: the capture and IR names, each with an on/off indicator (capture red, IR violet). A star instead of the power sign means the preset’s own capture or IR, one that isn’t in any of the pedal’s slots.
- Gate and FX tiles: gate, pre 1, pre 2 and post 1–3, each with its effect category and model, lit in the category colour when on.
- Preset strip: seven presets around the active one. In control mode the arrows page through all 64 and a tap selects one.
- Tempo in the top bar, following tap tempo live.
Bank labels
Section titled “Bank labels”In Settings → NanoGig choose the label style (1B or A2) and how many presets make a bank (2–8), to match your MIDI controller. Four suits an Mvave Chocolate. You can also show the pedal’s own preset number (1–64), show the Nano’s footswitch assignments as IA / IB / IIA / IIB badges, and hide the preset strip.
Control mode
Section titled “Control mode”Off by default. When it is on, taps write to the pedal:
- FX and gate tiles turn their block on and off.
- The capture and cab labels bypass or re-enable them.
- The preset strip switches presets.
Every change is checked against the pedal’s own report a moment later, so the screen shows what the pedal did, not what the app asked for. Fast taps are safe: the pedal never loads the presets you skipped past.
Edit mode
Section titled “Edit mode”The Edit button, left of Control, turns control mode on too. Both are remembered across reloads.
| Where | Gesture | What it opens |
|---|---|---|
| FX tile | hold | Model and parameters, live as you move the sliders. Discard puts that block back as saved. |
| Gate | hold | On/off and threshold. |
| OUTPUTS (gate row) | tap | Output and monitoring settings: output volume, sum to mono, IR bypass, mute input and outputs. |
| Capture or IR name | tap | The slot playing, volume (capture) or level, filters, phase and microphone (IR), and the pedal’s library. |
| Preset number and name | tap | Rename, name an empty slot, put it on a footswitch, delete. |
Changes are live, like turning a knob on the pedal. When the pedal’s save light comes on, Save and Discard take the Edit button’s place: Save stores the preset, Discard reloads it as saved. Renames, new presets and deletes are stored at once.
Capture and IR library
Section titled “Capture and IR library”The library lists the pedal’s captures and IRs, user and factory. Tap one to hear it; Load to puts it in the slot playing or in the preset’s own slot. A–Z sorts the list, chips filter captures by type, and the search looks at names, authors, tags and descriptions. Make folders of your own and hold an item (or drag it) to move it into one. Folders are kept in this browser.
Presets
Section titled “Presets”Menu → Presets lists all 64, with a search by name, label or footswitch (Enter picks the first match).
Menu → Tuner opens the pedal’s tuner: the note in large type, the offset in cents, the reference pitch and the tuner’s mute switch. A tuner started on the pedal (hold footswitch II) opens it by itself. It needs no control mode.
Menu → Tempo, or a tap on the BPM, opens the tempo view: the tempo in large type with − and + (hold to step faster). Tap tempo on the pedal opens it by itself.
Expression pedal
Section titled “Expression pedal”A thin bar at the right edge follows the expression pedal, and every FX block it is assigned to carries a track showing the range set in Cortex Cloud and the current value. Settings → NanoGig → Show expression pedal values turns these on or off.
Pedal settings
Section titled “Pedal settings”Settings → Nano Cortex has every setting on Cortex Cloud’s settings page, in its order, written straight away and without control mode: device name, capture and IR usage, LED brightness, USB playback volume, output level, sum to mono, 4-Preset Mode, catch knobs, IR bypass, trails, the EXP/MIDI jack (with expression pedal recalibration), MIDI channel, MIDI Thru, clock source, mute input and Mute outputs 1L/2R (handy when you monitor through a computer over USB; a small 1/2 badge shows next to the tempo while muted). Factory reset stays in Cortex Cloud.
Re-read preset names when idle (on by default) picks up renames made in Cortex Cloud after a quiet minute. You can turn it off for a gig; Menu → Refresh does it on demand.
